Hi, Tonna, Lorriane, Robert and Colleen.
I have been (and still AM)working upon a basic Family History of the Foresters and Forsters (essentially all the same bunch!) and after a great deal of soul-searching, I have finally concluded that Sir Richard (the Frislander) Forester of Flanders MUST have been a REAL person - as the youngest son of Count Baldwin (or Badouin) V of Flanders, who was born in either1030 or 1050 in Flanders. There seems to be just too great a preponderence of data around on the Web concerning him for him to be fictitious! I feel that he got buried a little under the great events that were taking place in Normandy and England during his era!
So, since one has to begin somewhere, I have decided to place him at the top of my Forester, Forrester, Forster and Foster "Tree", as being a sort of "ADAM" in my Forster History. However, I would appreciate any input from anyone who can shed any more light on him, additional to what I've already discovered.
You four might all find some answers to your queries in what I've compiled thus far, especially Tonna, since you are missing 500 years of your particular tree!Mine can now be be traced back (via Richard Forester of Flanders and his forebears, to the time of Priam and Helen of Troy - BC! - (and even further if you wish to follow it through - all the way to ADAM!)However, for the purpose of keeping things at a more sensible level, my history, as written so far, will take you back to Pharamond, the first King of the Franks in 418 AD!(I also include a Scottish section,BTW.)
You can see my efforts thus far at my website if you wish: www.gerryforster.netfirms.com.Just look for a link-panel marked "Forster History" and click on it. I hope that this may be of some help and interest to you, but please bear in mind that I am still searching widely for further data on Sir Richard Forester. This growing history hinges largely upon him for its continuity!
Best Regards,
Gerry.
