A good deal of what I have learned on the subject of DNA comes from Dr. David Faux who put up with my amatueur questions
and
from reading the work of Ken Nordtvedt.......
Simply punching in their names will give you masses of solid genetic information to use relating to all the various spreads of populations via DNA.......
But essentially the background of 25@390 is North Sea Baltic........down into Poland and Southern Germany
Now the history of how it gets out of there and shows up in Acadia 4,000 years later is fascinating.......
Another good source is to sign up for free to DNA-Forums.com as well as europedia.com
Essentially if you follow the patterns:
the common thread is Vikings.....where they settled
so you find these blocks of 25
Northern Ireland is a huge block of 25: but most positive
Scotland is a decent source of L21- though
(again a lot of Viking settlements)
England itself has a strong negative population
L21 as a whole: is a very young marker......meaning:
those who have it: are newer populations......which is why it is found so heavily as positive in bottlenecked populations like Ireland
those without: more ancient populations.......
But at the end of the day: Micheal is a Celt......and Celts by their definition came out of the Alps....and nearby.....
There were two waves out of the Alps:
one south and over to Spain
one north into Germany and the Baltic
Somewhere in this split: the 25s occurred......
but not for the ones in Spain
Thus you have a fairly reliable indicator of a northern origin,,,,,and a small distinct population.......
who had the exact same genetic background of L21 positives who ended up in Ireland
(as the negatives came first)
That narrows the field to orginally from Scotland, down the eastern coast of England, over into northern Germany and the Nordic countries
(I am speaking of major patterns: obviously smaller bits are everywhere:)
There is a small pocket of L21 negative Irish:
and all I can say is that this is actually helpful
since its such a darn small group in comparison to positives
If you have a suclade: such as R1b1c9 or something like that assigned
you can use that even more strongly to do research
We no name Acadians really need CSI dont we!
