I think that you could be related to the Forrest, yes with 2 r. Your oldest known ancestor, who came to Quebec directly from Ireland is John Forrest (c1791-1858) who married Catherine Callnan (Carnan) or Carnen).
John had 3 sons :William (c1830), James, and John (1838).This William Forest(c1830) m. Margaret Mc Laughlin. From this marriage another William (c1860)was born who married M.-Louise Beauregard Champagne. This couple also had a son named William Forrest who married Laurette Gauthier (Alexandre - Euphrasie Bazinet) on August 9, 1923 in Ste-Anne Parish, Sudbury, ON. From this marriage possibly two sons : 1.Raymond Forrest b in Sudbury married Ada Cyr on May 30,1953 and 2. possibly Bernard Forest who married Florence Foucault (This need to be check with the St-Anne Parish register in Sudbury). Bernard Forest and Florence gave birth to a girl Claudette Forest and a boy named Maurice-Louis Forest (m.Joyce Gale Blais).
Though many of your Forrest ancestors married french canadian girls, it does not appear that you are related to the acadian Forest.
Hope this comments help with the search of your ancestors.
Denis Forest
