Richard FORDON/FORDEN was born abt. 1848 in England, likely Yorkshire.

1851 Canadian Census, Ontario, Oxford Co., Oxford West, pg. 67 line 8:
Robert FORDON, Yeoman, b. England, age 40, Methodist
Hannah (SLATER) b: England, age 45
John b: Eng, age 15
Allen, b: Eng, age 13
Elizabeth, b: Eng, age 11
Richard, b: Eng, age 4

Robert and Hannah FORDON were married 19 Dec 1831 in Great Driffield, Yorkshire, England (Parish records transcribed, LDS, FamilySearch)
John H. FORDON and Eliz. FORDON, their children, have christening records available in England also. The family appears to have emigrated from England to Ontario Canada between 1848-1851.

John FORDON married Mary MURPHY in Ontario in 1861. All the FORDON siblings emigrated to Huron and Sanilac Cos. MI ca 1866-1868. Brother Allen m. Sarah McKay abt. 1866 in Huron Co. and was a farmer. Sister Eliz. m. Wilson MOORE in 1862 in West Oxford, Perth, Ontario and later moved to Sanilac Co., MI, adjacent Huron. Also farmers.

Richard remained single until his early 40's, farming near his brothers John and Allen. (He's in the 1880 Census age 32 living with the family of Thomas and Mary REID, relationship unknown, as a Farmer, single). This family is next to Allen FORDON and his family.

Richard and Rose are found in the 1900, 1910, 1920 US Census records, all in MI, Huron Co., Bingham Township. In 1900 they were indexed under JOURDEN. The spelling was FOURDEN and not so easy to read. In 1920, Richard's nephew Robert FORDON (eldest son of John H. and Mary FORDON) is only a couple of pages away with his wife Eliz. and children Charles, Elenor.

I have some additional information on Richard's siblings if interested.

My descent is through John and Mary's youngest daughter Mary T. FORDEN, my maternal great-grandmother.
