Forde/McDonagh/Sheehy/Madden/Galway, Ireland

Martin E. (Edward?) Forde married Jane McDonagh (McDonough) in or near Abbey/Duniry or Loughrea, East Galway Ireland. He worked as the caretaker of a nearby race track. His son, Martin Frances Forde put "Loughrea" as his birth place on his application to become a police officer in Boston, Mass. He was born on April 21, 1897 in the Loughrea area, for sure.

The dad, Martin E., came to the U.S. temporarily alone -- we believe via Ellis Island -- sometime in the warmer months of 1896. He left behind his pregnant wife, Jane McDonagh Forde, who joined him somewhere between 1897 and 1904 with their child. Most of the family settled in the Brighton area of Boston; Martin and Jane had many more children there, including my great-grandfather, William Ambrose Ford, Sr.

I have much more info, too -- the Ireland part mostly pulled from records at the East Galway Family History Center. Other family names (related to the Fordes) also include Madden and Sheehy.

Let me know if anything connects and you'd like more info.
