My Grandmother,Winifred, was actually a Barry. My Aunt Winifred Forde was her daughter and the daughter of Michael Forde. My Grandfather passed away around 1957,two years before I was born. My grandmother in 1998. I don't know much about the Forde family. My parents were divorced and although I did spend much time with my Grandmother and my father, also Michael Patrick Forde, I believe the idea that one of her children was of divorced was very difficult for her. I am not sure.

I had heard of a John Forde. I don't know if there is any connection. Also at my fathers funeral in 1990 I did meet a cousin of his Terrence Forde who lived on Long Island, New York. I think there is a Margret Forde or Barry still in Ireland that my Grandmother talked to. She may have owned a Bed and Breakfast.

Michael Forde I believe went through Elis Island. However his wife who met him here was pleased to say she was met at the dock?

I know there are many relations that I don't know in the
New York, New Jersey area. I live in Missouri.

I have a son. Michael Forde Smith. My daughter Kathlyn Forde Smith. I understand my Grandfather was a good man. Prehaps I will be able to tell his great-grand children more some day.
