Patsy,
I have found no connection for a Zadock Dickerson to our Zadock Ford family, of MD/SC.I've not seen any other connection with the Cooks, although some think that they were related.Would love to have documentation if this is true. The birth date that I've seen in some cases has been 1752, for Zadock Ford. That is what is so strange. There's been no documentation for that. There was a Zadock Ford, born 1852 in Smithfield, RI, son of William and Jemima Collom Ford, however. We do have the documentation on that, so he has been my best guess for the Zadock Ford who fought, in the Rev. War, from Montg. Co., MD; then died in Spartanburg, SC, in 1801; his widow, Cassandra Trail Ford died, there in 1831.Several other people have other possible fathers for Zadock Ford, but no documentation, so I'm trying to leave myself open.
I ran into several other families with children named Zadock, while searching MD, so the name was not all that uncommon, there.I'm glad you're having luck with your DNA.I'm trying to find someone to test, from our line. Some say that it was highly improbable for the RI Zadock Ford to have moved to MD; however, this Zadock's father, William, had come from there, so there was a connection.
