Jane,
I'm not related to the Ford family, but my Greatgrand mother was, raised I believe, by the William Ford family.
The 1860 Polk county Arkansas census shows a Sarah H Van Bibber living with the Ford family and is 10 years old. She is the only Van Bibber listed in the Polk county census.
There is a family of Van Bibbers listed in the 1850 census but no mention of Sarah. I believe one of the Van Bibber boys either Jacob or John was her father, but it appears she was born out of wedlock.
I don't know if one of the Ford girls was her mother or if the family just took her in. Now, My Grandmother, when she was alive said her mother was half Cherokee,so of course Sarahs mother should have been a full blood. Your William is, I believe, the one listed in the FamilySearch International Genealogical Indexv5.0 It lists him as born about 1809 in Tennessee. His wife Rachel was born about 1812 in Kentucky. The children are listed as Robert born 1830 Missouri, Deborah born 1835 in Missouri, Permica and Elisa Jane twins? Samuel born 1839 Ark. William M 1841 Ark. Rachel R 1844 Ark. John H about 1844 Ark. Melissa about 1849 Ark James F about 1850 Ark. and Nancy L Ford about 1854 Ark.
The H after Sarah's name and the H after Johns name shows me there is a slim chance that she may be the child one of the Ford girls, but again the chance is slim.
I don't know if the William Ford you have is the one I am looking at or not. Do you know if that Ford family has Indian blood?
