Ford/Cooper/Duncan/Gaddy/Hays Families in NC and SC

John Duncan m. Elizabeth Duncan, 24 Feb 1806 (Elizabeth Wagers/Wages ?), Marriages in Granville, NC.John Duncan’s mother and the mother of John and Joel Cooper were sisters (John and Joel arrived in Richland County, SC, between 1811-1820).

Sons:Drury Hays and Francis Hays (probably more).
Drury Hays, Marion County, SC, Deed to his son Ithamur Hays.
Ithamur Hays b. 1811, d. 1884, buried Hayestown Cemetery with his three wives.
Ford, Hays, and Gaddy Families lived in same general vicinity, or, at least not far from Hayestown.
Preserved Ford (1749-1829), built a mill, called Ford’s Mill.Preserved Ford married (1) Miriam Gaddy, date unknown, (2) a Barfield, and (3) Celia ______ (a widow).He named a son Cooper (named after Joel Cooper of Robeson?).Jesse Ford was witness to Joel Cooper’s sale of 200 acres on the southside of Ashpole Swamp to Daniel Powell of Robeson, 11 Feb 1811.).(Note:Thomas Cooper, one of the four Cooper men who arrived in Richland County, SC, between 1811-1820, named a son Ford.)
Descendant(s) of old Ithamur Gaddy acquired the mill from the Ford Family.The lands belonging to old Drury Hays in Haystown bound on a large “plantation” which adjoins an old gristmill and pond, now called Gaddy’s Mill.
13 September 1790, Edgecombe County, NC, Deed Book 6, P. 3:Ithamur Gaddy of Robeson County to Joseph Pippen of Edgecomb County….John Cooper a witness.Is this John Cooper a son of William Cooper m. Mary/Polly Harrison/son of Benjamin Cooper and wife Elizabeth of Granville County?Did this John Cooper die in 1791 leaving two sons?
1850 Census, Marion County, SC:Ithamur Gaddy – spelled Fthamer Gaddy on census.
1850 Census, Marion County, SC:Hardy Gaddy, son of Ithamur Gaddy, had a son born ca 1840 named Duncan Gaddy.
1850 Census, Marion County, SC:Drayton Cooper, age 46, and wife Mandannah had in their household a ten year old male named Bronson Cooper.Old Preserved Ford hadgrandmother named Ann Bronson.

1810 Census, Robeson County, NC:Joel Cooper head of household.Census reveals two adult males and two adult females.
11 February 1811:Robeson County DB P:318, Joel Cooper of Robeson to Daniel Powell of Robeson, for $175, sold (the above) 200 acres on the southside of Ashpole Swamp.Signed:Joel Cooper; WIT:Jesse Ford, Thomas Townsend.Acknowledged in Court February Term 1811.(Note:Thomas Cooper, one of the four Cooper men who arrived in Richland County, SC, between 1811-1820, named a son Ford.)
7 January 1813, Franklin County, NC:Joel Cooper purchased items at the estate sale of Simon Jeffreys.Is this Joel the son of John Cooper of Nash?He would be old enough.

Earliest record of Jesse Cooper is by him witnessing a deed in Martin County from Thomas Wheatley of Virginia to William Wheatley, Jr.
Jesse Cooper and wife Catherine had a daughter Charlotte who married Jesse Cone.

12 March 1779:Joseph Cooper, Bladen County, Will dtd 12 March 1779.Wife: Mary; Sons:William, Benjamin, and Joseph; Daughters:Elizabeth, Agnes, and Tobitha.Brother:Benjamin.Joseph and Benjamin Cooper had a sister Elizabeth Lock.
