Greetings Greta,
I am Luther Dwight Brown, son of Earl Remus Brown, son of Sarah Elizabeth Ford, daughter of Larkin H. S. Ford. I have been researching my tree for some time and just recently found, with the help of several people on THIS forum, a breakthrough. Betty Westbrook has information concerning the whereabouts of Larkin in 1912.
He did not abandon his children, rather, came to Oklahoma looking for a place in the newly opened settlement areas for his family, leaving some of them in the care of his oldest son. Wife, Vicki, and daughter Sarah (age 20)were with him. The rest of his family came later.
I remember well, when I was small, visiting gUncle Tom and his wife 'auntie'. I also remember my father mentioning from time to time his uncles Tom and Wiley, and aunts Mary and Martha. Sarah married in Antlers, OK, in 1906. There is, available, a letter from Sarah to her father, L. S. Ford in Brent, OK, dated August 7, 1912.
I thank you for posting the names and dates, as you know, every little bit helps. If you wish, e-mail me direct as I am always willing to compare and exchange information.
