Lynda,
I have a Daniel Ford (b. abt 1790)who married Agatha Walker daughter of Elijah and Elizabeth Simmons Walker of Laurens County, SC.They lived in Laurens County on the Reedy River not far from the Laurens/Greenville Counties line.So far, I've been unable to find the parents of this Daniel Ford.I've thought he might have been a son of Stephen Ford who left a will in Greenville County in 1829 but I can't prove it.
I've also thought that Daniel Ford who married Agatha Walker may have been a son of another Daniel Ford who married Mary Hardman.Daniel and Mary are found in land records of Henry County, VA in the early 1780's and then not long afterwards they moved to Wilkes County, GA.The area where they lived in Wilkes County later becam Oglethorpe County. Daniel is found on the early tax records of Wilkes and Oglethorpe, living in the same tax districts as some of the Hardman family. In 1804, Daniel Ford, is found receiving as a legatee in the probate records of his father-in-law, John Hardman of Oglethorpe County. I can't find a will nor estate settlement for Daniel and Mary Ford. I did find one tidbit of information that he had a son named John.
You mentioned the will of John Ford, 1808, of Elbert County, GA and that one of his executors was a Daniel Ford.Since Elbert and Oglethorpe Counties adjoin one another, I've wondered if Daniel Ford of Oglethorpe was John Ford's executor and if they were somehow related.
Daniel and Agatha Walker Ford lived in Laurens County, SC after their marriage and he served in the War of 1812 while living there. In 1819, they moved to Oglethorpe County, GA and purchased land from Isaiah Hardman on Clouds Creek. Sometime before the 1840 census was taken Daniel and Agatha moved to Henry County, GA where both died. They are buried in the Ford Family Cemetery in Henry County, GA.The 1850 Henry County, GA census lists Daniels p.o.b. as Georgia.
Thanks in advance for any help.
