My information on Thomas Ford being the son of immigrant John Ford comes from Annis F. Godbey;Ford and Allied Families-1960. Quote; Edward Bennett, a wealthy merchant of London in 1621, had a large tract of land on the Nansemond River in Virginia.John Ford came to Virginia in 1635 with Richard Bennett.Richard settled on this plantation, but as the colony of Virginia had placed a ban on Congregational Societies, Richard left Virginia with ten families of Puritans and relocated in Ann Arundel County, Maryland."Godbey goes on to say " Thomas Ford whose record is first mentioned in 1652-Amme Arundel Co. MD. was unquestionably the son of John Ford and came with his father and Richard Bennett."I did check my American History book and found that Bennett did travel from VA to MD with a band of Puritans.I don't know where Annis F. Godbey obtained all of her info. but the book was from 1960 and I believe that I found it in the Detroit Library, Burton Historical Collections. As far as Elizabeth, wife of James being catholic, I can not locate my source at this time, unless I mixed it up with Thomas Ford, James son who married Leah Price quote "Baptised by Rev. Hall-Rector of All Hallows Church and St James Church Record. p. 294. Leah Price a catholic, married Thomas Ford, Episcopal Church."I believe this quote was from Godbey also.Hope this helped.I know there is so much misinformation out there on the net, but I started researching before computers were common and everything had to be hand copied and you had to go to the city and state to look up information.
