James Edward Ford emigrated to South Africa with wife Frances Stransham in 1820, when he was about 50 years old. He was a miniaturist (painter). Had 7 children and brought them all to SA. Frances (1779-1865) was the daughter of Maj Gen Samuel Stransham and Elizabeth Blaxland. Frances and James were married 19 June 1802 at St Giles, Camberwell Surrey. I am unable to find any information on James's parents and family prior to this. I am pretty desperate by now and have searched most of the common sites for info.
