Ran across this today and was just going to post it on the Ford site, then I saw your message.
DEATH CLAIMS FRED FORD, 84.WAS PIONEER OF NORTHERN MICHIGAN.CAME HERE ELEVEN YEARS AGO.
Fred Ford, age 84, one of northern Michigans oldest pioneers and a highly respected citizen of Central Lake for the past ten years passed away at his residence here Tuesday afternoon following a short illness.About a month ago, Mr. Ford injured his foot and later infection set in, which caused his ultimate death.
The funeral was held at the home this afternoon, Rev. Frederick Peggs officiating.Interment was made in the Southern Cemetery.
Fred Ford was born in Atlas, Genessee County, MI on January 6, 1849.He spent his early life in Genesee and Oakland Counties.Mr. Ford was united in marriage to Miss Sarah Schug on April 27, 1873.To this union were born two children, a son, Burton who resides in Lewiston, MT and a daughter, Mrs. Della Carroll of Ionia, MI
Mr. Ford came to northern Michigan and settled in Kalkaska County in 1876, where he lived until 1901 when he moved with his family to Antrim County locating on a farm in Banks Township.He moved to Central Lake about eleven years ago where he spent his last days.Mrs. Ford passed away on January 25, 1931.Mr. Ford was always of a cheerful disposition and will be greatly missed by his many friends who will join the Torch in extending sincere sympathy to the bereaved family.
