I don't have all the details on geography for the Forby's, but have heard South Carolina, southern Illinois, and other states on the east coast. My father, George William McCormick (70 y.o.) indicates that his first name is from his grandfather George Forby. I don't have a middle initial and hope to spend some time with my father to obtain further information. My grandmother, Clara Forby McCormick (m. Amos Elbert McCormick and later George Murray in the 60's), she passed away in 1996 (Richland, MI). She was born in 1913 to Dora King Forby/George Forby. Once the social security applications come, I will have further information on my grandparents. Limited information is known about the Forby's. When I go into the 1995 US census page to search for last name "Forby" or "Forbey," no results are found. Not a good sign out of 88,000 last names.
