Hi Mary in California: Since most of your people were living until quite recently, there should be lots of records about them. First of all, there are NO Furbush names now listed in Canada's phone book - www.canada411.com - and there are NO "Remier" names spelled that way in Québec (do you know if it could be "Rhymer" or something like that ?). There ARE "zillions" of DUQUETTE and DUQUET names in Québec, so that may be tough to check out for family connections. If there were priests in your family, the ARCHDIOCESE OF MONTREAL should have good records of them. I got this from Catholic sites: - http://home.att.net/~Local_Catholic/ - Researching ancestors who were members of the Catholic Church ? Would you like to know more about the History of the Local Catholic Churches ? This site is intended as a helpful guide. You may select to read: [ GUIDE TO THE TYPES OF RECORDS THAT MAY BE FOUND ] [ GUIDE to the LOCATIONS OF RECORDS ] [General History & GENEALOGY Links to Maps & Aids *] * There are additional links to history, genealogy, and biography on local pages, which include links to local Archdioceses, Dioceses, Churches, and more... Also, try Govt of Québec Births/Deaths and Vital Statistics: - www.gouv.qc.ca - lots of LINKS to various sources of info Possible "Letters to the Editor" of: Le Journal de Montréal (French) - www.journaldemontreal.com - Montreal Gazette (English) - www.montrealgazette.com -
