I am looking into my family tree of Thomas McCormick Sr. ( @1810 Ireland - 1897 MN ) and his wife Catherine Drew ( 1821 Ireland - 1907 Quebec ). They lived in Berlin, Steele CO. Minnesota by 1857.

Their children were:
James* born @ 1849 IL or Wisconsin -died ?
Mary Ann born 1855 Hartland, McHenry Co. IL - died 1941 ND
Edward Patrick born 1857 MN - died 1886 MN
Anastasia born 1859 MN - died 1932 MN
Thomas JR. born 1860 MN - died 1932 MN
Catherine born 1862 MN - died 1950 Quebec
Bridget ' Della' born MN - died 1949 Tacoma WA

I like to ask about the oldest son James* who I've been told was known to his family as ' Michael '*. I have him in the US Census as James, and on the 1879 plat for his farm in Berlin , Steele CO. MN also named James.( His farm was above his father's farm). If someone can indicate if Michael is what he went by, I'll look for him by that name, and try and find more Michaels in the earlier McCormick tree back to Ireland maybe.

James* ( Michael ? ) McCormick married Mary Forbes,
children:
Martin McCormick - wed Jeannette Van Pelt
John McCormick - bachelor
James McCormick - wed ( yes), children ?
Michael McCormick - bachelor
Catherine McCormick - wed I. Neary
Margaret McCormick - wed a Dunbar.

So a they named a son Michael ( this is the first time I've seen a Michael. )

I've been told James* ( Michael ) McCormick may have fallen through ice and died, or he disappeared from his family @ 1895. Does anyone know where or how he died ?

Thanks for your time, CY
