Hi Joanna,
My mother is a Forbes and grew up in Manchester parish. I too have started to research the Forbes family in Jamaica.
She has told me that the Forbes family founder may have been a relative of the Glaves family who owned property in the parish. I do not have any first names; however, she told me that possibly the Glaves estate founder (who we believe originated from England) brought over a nephew by the name of Forbes (possibly from Scotland) to manage the bookkeeping. I recently went to Jamaica and visited the villages around where she grew up which include Craighead, Heavytree, Wait-a-bit. Any information you learn would be greatly appreciated. I am happy to share.
