Have hit a wall doing research on my Forbes family. Can anyone help with more information on this line? Peter Forbes, b. 1776 Perth Shire, Scotland Married Margaret McDougal, b. 1770 in Scotland They came to New York in 1801. Had a daughter, Margaret, b. Fulton County, NY 1804. Had a son, Peter Jr. b. Fulton County, NY 1806. I believe both were born in Broadalbin. I need to know if Peter (Sr.) and Margaret had any other children. I'd also like to find any record that may exist of Peter and Margaret's immigration to the US. In the 1850 census for Fulton County, NY, the town of Broadalbin, it lists Peter (Jr.) has 2 children and is living with his parents, and his sister Margaret. There is another woman, listed right below as her own head of the house. MARY FORBES, who is listed as having 9 children. MARY is my great, great, great grandmother. My great, great grandfather Francis Forbes is listed as living with Mary. There does not appear to be a FATHER listed in that household however. I am trying to find out what happened to my great, great, great Grandfather, whom I believe to be a missing/not listed child of Peter Sr. and Margaret. Mary Forbes was born about 1808, in New York. She must have married and in the late 1820's or early 1830's as her first child, Priscilla Forbes, was born in 1832. In the 1860 Fulton County census, MARY FORBES, is no longer listed. I believe she died in late 1850 or early 1851. Almost all of her children are then listed as living with Peter Forbes Jr. Please note the spellings are off on the 1860 census. The last name is spelled "Forbs" on that census. Any help would be deeply appreciated! Notify Administrator about this message?
