I have this Forbes family:
James Forbes lived in DeWitt Co., Illinois, in mid-1850's. He was possibly born in Ohio and was married (1) to (?) and had children Bill, Angus, George, John, Steve, Rebecca, and Silence. He married (2) Elizabeth Lash, Ohio or Illinois, about 1857, and they had children Thomas Jefferson, Marion Francis, Joseph, Alex, and John. He died about 1868 and is supposedly buried in DeWitt Cemetery, Farmer City, Illinois, but his grave is unmarked and not known.
Elizabeth Lash was married before she married James Forbes to George Moore and had children George Moore and Rozella Moore (Mayburn). After James Forbes died, she married Andy Jackson and had five more boys. She is buried in DeWitt Cemetery in Farmer City, Illinois, and has a headstone (not too old) marked "Elizabeth Jackson." I would be interested in knowing who erected this headstone and decorates her grave.
I have been told that James Forbes was brother to Civil War photographer, but have absolutely no documentation about this. I have information about Thomas Jefferson Forbes and on down. He went to Iowa in late l800's.
If you have information re: Edwin Forbes, I would be interested in knowing. As I think of it, Thomas Jefferson Forbes had a son or grandson named "Edwin."
