John Forbes was born in 1739 in SC and was married to Rebecca Barron in the fall of 1780 in York Co., SC. He died Oct. 24, 1829 and is buried in Ebenezer Cemetery in Rock Hill, SC. He served during 1780, 1781 and 1782 in the Amn. Revolution under Capt. Moffett and Col. Samuel Watson, under Col. Hill, and as a horseman under Gen. Sumter. He served as a foot soldier under Gen. Henderson. He was wounded in the engagement of Williamson's Plantation. According to some records, there were twelve children--8 girls and 4 boys. His wife moved to Indiana after John's death and died there while living with her son. This is my husband's ancestor and we do not have any info past the birth in 1739. We do not know his parents, his siblings, where he came from. We ordered a book on Forbush/Forbes but could not find any connection. Thanks for any info you can provide.
