James A Forbes/Ana M Galindo/1850s Calif

I'm looking for information about my ancestor James Alexander Forbes. He was born between 1803 and 1805 in Inverness, Scotland to John Alonzo Forbes and Marta Rodriguez of Spain. He arrived in California in 1831 or 1833 and began a flour mill in Santa Clara County in what is now the city of Los Gatos. He was also British Vice Consul. In California, he married Maria Ana Galindo, doughter of Juan C. (Chrisostomo, Christomo, Crisostomo, Cristomo) Galindo and possibly Ana Maria Jocoba.
Although he's well known in Santa Clara County, I've been unable to find any information past his parents. There's also a gap between him and my grandfather Frederick Forbes Coates (1907-1979), married to Mary Ford (192?-2000). Any information about any of these people would be much appreciated.
