Irene, I posted back to you once before - now have more info. Alexander Forbes and Margaret Gellan had Francis ( m. Ann Ellis), Samuel (m. Jean Johnston), Robert, Margaret (m. John Johnston), Alexander, Joseph, and Anne - all between 1710 and 1723 - all males (except Joseph, which is my ancestor and had no John) could have been father to your John. They were born in Newe, stayed in Newe. Yes, in all liklihood, Mary Forbes was related as seems to be the case in my line as well! Naming patterns suggest a possible match in there. Regards,
