My grandfather, whose first name I don't know, was one of at least three brothers from Ireland, who all served as either stewards or cooks [chefs] and the Queen Shiplines out of England in the 1800's. I heard that one brother retired as a Master Chef from that line, around 1930-1950. I believe his name was William. The other brother went to Australia and the families lost touch. My grandfather "jumped ship" in NY Harbor around 1900-1905 and stayed. My father, Christopher James, was one of about a dozen children that grew up in New Jersey. His brothers were Edward, John [Jack]; sisters - Catherine, Mary, Ann, Winnifred, and several who died young whose names I don't know. Of course, all the names in our families sound similar, and we could be related, but I haven't enough information to be sure. I've tried to get the employee names list from the Queen Ship Lines, to no avail, so I may never know. But if your ancestor Foran was a crewman there that would confirm the line. Write if you find he was a crewman. I'd love to know.
