Just an idle observation. The sister of Fred Olmsted, Bertha Olmsted, married the Rt. Rev Wm Niles, Episcopal Bishop of NH. The story goes she suggested her brother include trees in his design of Grand Central Park (1860) NYC. She may have been the model for one of the novelist Hawthorne's characters. I don't know how any of this connects to the Foote family or if it really does. A Thomas Niles did marry Abigail Foote (dau of Ransom) in OH & they lived at Mancelona MI (c1880). I gather the Foote family is somehow connected to the Olmsteds. I think Bertha's father or grandfather (Bull Olmsted)was president of Yale Univ but I could be wrong on that.
