I'm compiling information for the South Lyon Township Library regarding their citizens involvement in the Civil War. Below is what I know about Charles E. Foote:
Foote, Charles E. of Lyon, Mich., c.1842 born; April 20, 1861 enlisted at Ypsilanti, Mich. as pvt., Co. H, 1st Mich. Infantry Rgt. Aug. 7, 1861 mustered out at Detroit, Mich. Aug. 15, 1862 sgt., Co. H, 22nd Mich. Infantry Rgt. Jan. 1, 1863 1stsgt. Sept. 20, 1863 wounded at Chickamauga, Ga. Nov. 10, 1863 2ndlt. April 1, 1865 1stlt. June 26, 1865 mustered out at Nashville, Tenn. Dec. 27, 1871 applied for a pension; Sept. 17, 1907 died at Los Angeles, Calif. and buried in Rosedale Cemetery at Los Angeles; July 28, 1908 his widow Catharine L. Foote applied for a pension while living in California.
I would appreciate more information to flesh out his story. Judy
