I am totally confused by what I am finding regarding the parentage of one Joanna said to be Foote. Any insight and help will be greatfully appreciated.
On Rootsweb, it seems to me that there are two differet groups claiming to be the ancestors of Joanna Foote who married Joseph Kellogg.
Firstly, is there a source showing that Nathaniel had a daughter named Joanna(h)? The first time that Joanna's name is connected with the surname Foote, that I can see, is in the book "Three Hundred Colonial Ancestors and War Service". Every other site that I have found does not show her surname.
Can any one source a marriage record?
Secondly, there seems to be competing Joanna's vying for the same Joseph Kellogg. One is born in Devon and the other Essexr or even Hadley. I can find no record in Hadley, and the Essex one seems to appear in 'submittals' to the igi. There are several others that could be the right 'Joanna' which are 'extracts' for they are close in date to the proposed birth of Joanna.
Is it possible that there might be two Nathaniel Foote's out there and one died early? Could Joanna Foote be a widow of a marriage to another Foote?
It just does not add up to my way of thinking and I am hoping that someone on this list can set me straight.
