I corresponded a year ago with Sharon Patterson who lives in Florida: email address: chatterson2@email.msn.com She is descended from George Foot who emigrated in 1818 to Pictou, Nova Scotia. George Foot and William Foot were twins born in 1798 in the parishes of Liff & Benvie on the west side of Dundee. You can see the farm where their father David Foot was a tenant farmer - Balruddery, by using one of the internet map websites. I was in Dundee a couple of months ago and saw in one of the estate agents windows that the main building is now converted to modern apartments. I discovered last winter that the Willian Foot who is my ancestor was born a few miles away in 1806 so is not the twin mentioned above. His father was a Peter Foot and mother a Jean Douglas, who were married in Longforgan, on the west side of Dundee, the next parish to Liff & Benvie. There are very, very few Foot's at that time in the area so they probably would be related. I have traced the grandson David Foot and his father James Foot to Ontario, Canada. They are both showing on a website created to trace a township's history. David Foot was the town 'reeve' on the first local town council. Sharon Patterson had no idea what that position was but was intending to research this. He could have been the local town clerk, or mayor! He originally went to Canada to work on the Rideau Canal, emigrating in 1842. Most of the information you have outlined is similar to the information in the LDS records, inherited by Sharon Patterson, and also on another website by a chap living n Ontario, John Latham, who is also descended from George Foot who emigrated in 1818. If you search all these sources you will find much more to add to your family history. Good luck Jean Davidson kinfauns@yahoo.com
