Yeterday afternoon, I visited the Birmingham library and looked-up Fontenots who rendered patriotic service during the Rev. War. Source: DAR Patriot Index, Lib. of Congress Call #E255.D36 1990, Pt. 1, pg. 1051 (Vol. 1 A-F, Vol. 2, G-O, Vol. 3 P-Z)

Three sons of Sgt. Jean Louis Fontenot dit Colin & Louise Angelique Henry rendered patriotic service:

(1) Henri Fontenot dit Bellevue b. Abt. 1744 (?) Mobile AL -Fl Territory - d. September 14, 1813 bur. age 60+ yrs. Opel. Ch., m. Abt. 1770 Mobile, AL Marie Louise Doucet, b. Abt. 1739, Fort Toulouse, Mobile, AL, d/o Pierre Doucet & Marie Francoise Pago. Marie Louise d. October 17, 1819, bur. Opel. Ch.

Henri Fontenot & Marie Louise Doucet are the progenitors of the Henri (H. Bv.) clan of the Fontenot family.

(2) Pierre Fontenot dit Bellevue b. Abt. 1727 Alibamons District - Ft. Toulouse, AL - d. September 15, 1811 bur. Opel. Ch. m. Abt. 1755 Ft. Toulouse, AL Marie Louise Doucet, b. Abt. 1727, Fort at Alibamons, d. Bef. February 1820 in St. Landry Parish Succ. #151 filed Opel. Ct. Hse.
There is some question about her parents. See: The First Fontenot Families by Jacqueline O. Vidrine & Elaine G. Pucheau, pub. LA GEN REG, V. XXIII, No. 2, June 1976, p. 122 "Marie Louise Doucet b. ca 1737 Alibamons (poss. dau. or sister of Pierre Doucet, husband of Marie Francoise Pago).

Pierre Fontenot is the progenitor of the Bellevue clan of the Fontenot family

(3) Philippe Fontenot dit St. Philippe b. August 31, 1727, Poste des Alibamons - FL Territory - d. March 17, 1806, bur. Opel. Ch. m. May 27, 1747 Notre Dame de Fort de Conde de la Mobile Marie Nicole Brignac, b. Abt. 1728 Poste des Alibamons, d. December 045, 1799, bur. Opel. Ch. Marie Nicole was the d/o Simon Jacques Brignac & Marie Turpin.

Sons of Philippe Fontenot dit St. Philippe who rendered patriotic service during the Rev. War:

(1) Louis Philippe Fontenot b. Abt. 1752 Mobile,AL FL Territory - d. March 17, 1802 in LA m. June 19, 1779 St. Jean Baptiste des Natchitoches, LA Marie Pelagie Grappe b. July 06, 1759 St. Jean Baptiste des Natchitoches, LA d/o Alexis Grappe and Louisa Marguerite Guedon.

(2) Joseph Philippe LaRose Fontenot b. Abt. 1756 Mobile, AL - FL Territory - d. October 22, 1828 bur. age 72 yrs. Opel. Ch. m. Bef. 1777 in Alabama Magdalen Hayes b. Abt. 1761 German Coast of LA (Cote' des Allemands) d/o of Nicholas Hayes & Marguerite Foltz, d. March 17, 1843, bur. age 82 yrs. Opel. Ch. Her Succ, #1052 filed Opel. Ct. Hse. 22 March 1843.

Joseph Philippe LaRose Fontenot & Magdalen Hayes are the progenitors of the La Rose (LaRose or L.R.) clan of the Fontenot family.

Philippe Fontenot dit St. Philippe is my 4th great-grandfather; his son, Joseph Philippe LaRose Fontenot is my 3rd great-grandfather.

Pierre Fontenot dit Bellevue is my 4th great-grandfather.
