Hello Tony, I had been looking for Peter Fontaine's birth when I found this baptismal record of Eusebe from the St. Athanase de Iberville parish registry. The priest's notations appear to be 6 March 1861--(the month is not clear, but the entries before and after Eusebe are from March) His parents' names on this record are Eusebe Fontaine and Philomene Bisaillon, (the exact names I have on other documents listing Peter---US Census, and marriage document-(Marriages from Uxbridge, Ma). Eusebe, married to Philomene, has used Joseph and Eusebe interchangeably as a first name on documents---e.g. marriage, childrens' birth and baptism, and US Census. Also, the birth dates all match for Peter and this Eusebe (Jr.) being the same person.--(marriage and census) Perhaps they just gave him his father's first name at the baptism , and called him Peter later? I am still seeking his death certificate. Also, on this baptismal record, the Godparents are listed as Marcel Fontaine and (Ar)line Hamel. I have indications that the father, Eusebe, had a brother Marcel. Were there godparents listed on this baptism record you sent me? This family has given me lots of puzzles-----and I thank you for your time, concern, and help. Hope to hear from you again. MaryIlene Notify Administrator about this message?
