I'm new to this genealogy stuff so here goes!!! I'm trying to find information about my paternal grandfather who according to family folklore left Thief River Falls, Minnesota (and a family he conveniently forgot about)around the latter part of the 1800's. He made his way across to Vancouver and remarried around the early 1900's to a Polish immigrant named Amanda Pierce (or Fierce). They had 5 or 6 children one of whom was my Father Edward Fontaine.
Does this story sound familiar to anyone??
