Greetings,
Trying to make a connection:
1.Jeremiah Fones (on 1696 List of Freemen, Kingston,RI)
Also on this list was a John Jenkins.
and
2.Jeremiah Fones Jenkins, b. about 1755 in Boston to
Prudence Marion Taylor and John Jenkins.Prudence was
widow to William Taylor and daughter to Joseph and Ellen
Marion. No info on parentage of John Jenkins.
I believe, this family had children Elizabeth, John,
Jeremiah Fones, Lewis, and Prudence in Boston and then
removed (about 1760) to Providence, RI to be blessed
with Caroline and Herione Jenkins
They later (late 1780s) removed to Hudson,NY with other
Nantucket, Providence, and M. Vineyard merchants.
Parents John and Prudence died in Hudson (1797 and 1803
respect).Jeremiah Fones J. died in Providence May 2,
1814, in 60th yr.His wife's name was Mary ________?
Sorry for all the copy.Any known connection between the Foneses here and a John Jenkins? There was also a Joseph, John, and Samuel Fones on that 1696 Freeman's List.A lot of early Rhode Islanders were emigres from Massachusetts.
Thanks in advance for any input.
Dave Jenkins
