John Fones, s/o Thomas & Anna Winthrop F

I have found in several sources that John FONES b. 1635 was the son of Thomas and Anna Winthrop Fones. However, in the same and other sources, I find that both Thomas and Anna died before 1635! I must be missing a generation. Can anyone help, please?
