My mother is Denise M. Fonda, daughter of Clayton Cody Fonda of NY. I can just about trace the line back to Jellis Adam and Rachel Winnie, but with one hang up. I can't find actual evidence to prove that my gg-grandfather was Peter Adam (b.1830). My grandfather told me the story of two brothers, possibly Peter Adam and Stephen (b.1833), going to Illinios and one or both returned to Fonda.
I am guessing that my gg-grandfather was named after his uncle, Stephen R. Fonda (1898-1987).
Do you know anything about the sons of Peter Adam Fonda or Stephen Fonda. I do know that Peter A Fonda did marry Mary Anne Shingerland and had Abbie Lydia (date unknown). The girl was named after her grandmother Lydia Sammons, wife of Adam Douw (1803-1856).
Any info. might be of use.
Thanks
Suzanne
