albert -
hopefully you may have information for me regarding a fonda in my family. my gr(4x's) grandfather was a vincent castle,born in ct in 1770's. he settled in poestenkil ny(once a part of albany county) and married a rebecca fonda. this rebecca was born (according to census reports) in 1793 in a place named "cannadagew". other documents state canadagy. i wonder if this place could be the cauhnawaga that u mentioned? i have no info on rebecca, no siblings mentioned at her childbirths or their baptisms. also within the family another fonda, hannah b.1800 - 02 married a john castle (rebeccas' stepson).
any info would be greatly appreciated!
