One of my grandmothers married a Martin Fonda in Troy, NY in 1854. Another has passed down this info about Martin:Martin was a descendent of the Holland-Dutch Fondas directly from Holland that were among the first settlers in New York City. The city was then--in 1664--known as New Amsterdam. Later, some of the family moved north up the Hudson to Troy, where our Martin was born. There were still relatives of the family living at Troy, West Sand Lake and Wynantskill, NY, in 1939. There were the Williams, the Wendles, the Fondas, the Livingstones, and many more. I didn't see a "Martin Fonda" listed yet on this forum. Please make contact if you have further info. I can provide info on Martin's descendents.
