Hi,
Just thought I would say I wrote the book on the Folmars of Goshen Hill and their kin and have corresponded for decades with Folmars & Fulmers in all directions. I live within a half mile of where Jacob Folmar and wife Sarah "Sally" Edwards Folmar and family lived -- in same area where other of John Nicholas & Elizabeth Lansdale Folmar's children lived. I always heard that Jacob drank occasionally -- but point out that he was also a lawful constable of Pike County, so he had his good points too -- and I always heard that Sally and children left one time to get away from him and hid in hay stacks near their house. Jacob, thinking perhaps they had gone to his brother Abraham's house, went there looking for them. The story here is that Abe and his father-in-law, Mr. Thomas, were sitting on the porch and Abe told Jake his family wasn't there and not to try to come in. When he tried to enter, Abe shot him. Another story here is that Abe was inside the house and shot Jake through a door. The stories say that Mr. Thomas said, "Abe, I think you have done killed him." The death was ruled a justifiable homicide. According to a local source, Jake was buried at Davison Cemetery, across from present Elam Primitive Baptist Cemetery, about a mile south of his home. Jake's brother Isaac S. Folmar and wife are also buried there. Isaac's wife Mary Edwards was a sister of Jake's wife.
