Thanks for answering. I am trying to determine for sure, who the Elizabeth Follis on the Giles Co. TN 1850 census had been married too. John Follis is shown on the 1840 Giles Co census with a big family; how can we be sure that this Elizabeth Follis in 1850 is not John's wife?
The Henry Clay Follis on the 1850 census was married in Montgomery Co. ILL Aug 1871 and stated on his marriage license that his father was John Follis. Finding this record of Henry in ILL has made this more confusing for us.
We also have copies of the marriage licenses in Montgomery Co. ILL for Joseph, Thomas, and James Madison Follis; but none of these tells who their father was, as they were married several years before the state of ILL required the names of parents on the application. I also have copies of some of these Follis boys obits. that were printed in the local Montgomery Co. newspapers, but again the parents are not named here either.
If anyone has info on what became of Elizabeth Follis wife of John Follis after 1850, or info on what became of Jacob and Elizabeth Follis, this info would be of great help to us. Thanks
