Hi Susan,
I don't think I can help you very much. I am a descendent of John Follin and his first wife Catherine Sandord. I also have in my possession the Follin Book written by Gabriel Edmondston. I believe the Follin plantation was located near Follin Road in Vienna. I also think the family had property near Reston, Virginia. Mary Follin, John's second wife passed away in 1863. John Follin had a total of 30 children, 21 by his first wife and 9 with his second. There were many Mary's in this group so it may be difficult to tell which Mary owned the slaves who escaped. I think any of the plantation/slave/property tax information will be in the Fairfax County Archives. Also the Virginia Room section of the Fairfax Public Library may be able to help you further. What an interesting search!! If I can help you further, please let me know.
