Richard D. Folks--(1835-1909)
Looking for information on Richard D. Folks/Folkes, born 25 Oct 1835 in NYC, son of Richard Folks b. 1807 & Maria (of Ireland).Both Richards were piano makers by trade.Richard moved to Pontiac, Livingston, Illinois in the 1850's, and married Elmira Wallen 25 Apr 1860.Served in G Co., 129th Illinois Infantry from August 5, 1862 to June 8, 1865, mustering out as a sergeant.After the Civil War he was a carpenter and contractor in Pontiac, and family lore says he owned an opera house.He had three children that survived toadulthood--Carrie Elmore Folks (17 Oct 1861-11 Sep 1937), John E. Folks (7 May 1865-15 Apr 1914), and Maud (Aug 1877-?).Looking for information on these children.Carrie is my 2ggm and married Elmer Floyd 4 Jul 1883, but do not know if John or Maud married.Richard died 7 Jan 1909 and his wife Elmira died 31 May 1921, both in Pontiac, and are buried in the Southside Cemetery.Also looking for pictures.
