Decatur County Journal-Iowa
November 12, 1914
Helen Foland, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Foland, of near Grand River, committed suicide last Sunday morning by shooting herself with a 32-calibre revolver. Miss. Foland had been in Des Moines and only recently returned to the home of her parents. Despondency is given as the cause of the young woman's rash act. She was about 19 years of age.
The funeral occurred Monday afternoon at Grand River.
