I am the youngest Grandson of Albert Theodore(d) and Kathleen Foggitt(Powell).
They immigrated from Morley, Leeds, West Yorkshire, UK to Melbourne,Australia in the 50's. There children, Russell, Audry, Barbara and Rosmary (no E) (my Mother) also made the move. Barbara married (now Hartle) and returned to Morley in Leeds at a later date and still lives there.
I have found 14 address's on Australias Eastern coast that have the surname Foggitt, 3 of which are certain relations. My Uncle Russell and two of his 4 children, Darren and Mark Foggitt.
Please feel free to reply as my interest in the "Foggitt Thing" grows daily.
I was lead to believe that the name derives from the Italian city of Foggia and have heard that 3 brothers escaped Italy in barrels after insulting the Catholic Church?
Stories or Skeletons in the closet, one of the two????
