I have no documentation of any of this information, but I have seen John Foard listed as being born in Somerset Maryland in 1727.
There are indications that either he or his parents came to Maryland from Scotland by way of Ireland. I have seen John's parents listed as Henry Foard (born abt.1700) and Rebecca ? (born abt. 1705), and John's wife listed as Catherine Robinet (born abt. 1731).
I was told that according to VC King in -- Lives & Times of, Charlotte, NC 1956, John FOARD "is said to have come over with two brothers". And, I have seen indications that one brother was Wyatt Foard. (I have not found this book yet.)
A John Ford, Ralph Ford and Wiatt Ford are shown on the 1790 Rowan Co. NC census.
I am currently searching for a possible connection between him and Peter Ford of Rowan Co. and Joseph Ford of Burke Co.
FYI Rowan Co. was formed from Anson Co. in 1753, Mecklenburg Co. was also formed from Anson Co. in 1762, and Burke Co. was formed from Rowan Co. in 1777.
