The "orginal" copy of the Declaration (if in fact it is original) by most accounts was signed by John "Foard" spelled with an "a", not "Ford". There are later copies that list the name as John "Ford".
I cannot prove any of this, but I have seen indications that he was 1 of 3 brothers, (John, Wyatt or Wiatt, and ?). They appear to have been of Scotich descent, their family coming through Ireland to Somerset, Maryland.
