A biography/family history of Jerry Flynn, railroad man, is included in "Montana, Its Story and Biography", Vol 3, pages 942 abd 943.

Jerry was born, 26 Aug 1868, only son of John and Hannah (Brosnahan) Flynn and the only member of his family to come to the US. Jerry grew up in the home of a farmer and his family was in comfortable circumstances.

Jerry was educated in common schools of Ireland and at age 17 left home, going to London where he became a station guard for the Midland Railway Company. After a year he started for the US, leaving Liverpool on the Servia and went through Castle Garden with his destination as Toledo, OH. At Toledo he worked at various jobs until he became a freight brakeman for the New York Central Railway Company at Toledo. After a few years service, he went to St Cloud, MN, and joined the Great Northern Company. In 1898, he moved to Montana and was assigned freight conductor out of Glasgow, MT. He lived in Glasgow, Havre, and Cut Bank at times until he moved to Wolf Point in Apr 1917, working most of that time as conductor. He spent 32+ years working for the railroad.

At St. Paul, MN, Jerry married Miss Julia G. Bailey, born in Ireland, youngest of seven children of Patrick and Hannah (O'Connor) Bailey.

A brief obituary of Jerry Flynn is included in "The Havre Daily News Promoter", Havre, MT, 8 Aug 1929. Jerry was buried in St. Paul, MN.
