I have not been in communication with Duane Douglas Fly since early last year, and it was to renew acquaintance after a number of years earlier when he and I came together at the Fly-family reunion in Farmersville, Tulare Co., CA. I had come the farthest from Montgomery; HE had come from Omaha, NE.
I think I can safely say that Duane has considered my evidence and my detective work on the children of Elisha Fly, jr. b. ca. 1767 and he considers it the best-researched hypothesis out there.
I believe that I now know ALL the Fly-named men in the Nashville/Middle TN area in the 1800-1820 period, and John JESSE is the only candidate for father of George and Nathan Rochell. (I for one have never seen the spelling Roshell, and the spelling appeared in Joyce's text or title or both - I simply don't know if the "Roshell" is a typo from Joyce or not.)
You understand that there is a JESSE John Fly, b. 1789 who was son of Jesse, sr. of Virginia. He married Delany Whitford and I have ALL of his information. He is NOT to be confused with John JESSE, called "Jesse".
I have NOT heard from Duane recently.
