Hello Jimmie,
Is your Francis Floyd the son of Francis Floyd and Elizabeth Bell who were from Isle of Wight Co Va. Francis Floyd who married Elizabeth Bell had a will that was probated in Edgecombe Co. NC in 1761. I believe that this Francis Floyd is the son of Francis Floyd and Joane Goodson of Isle of Wight Co. I beleive that this Francis was the son or Grandson of Nathaniel Floyd the immigrant who came to Va. on the ship Bona Nova in 1624. He had land in Isle of Wight Co. in 1637. This land was later eschicquered to Joseph Bridger. Nathaniel Floyds's wife Mary, married a Francis Hobbs Sr. In Isle of Wight Co.in 1674 She had sons Francis, Thomas, John, and possibly Nathaniel Jr. and Ann. This Francis had sons Joseph, Francis, Thomas, and George Floyd. His wife Joanna Goodson later married Mathew Lowry Jr. in Isle of Wight Co Va. they had sons Mathew Lowry Jr and James Lowerey. In the will of Francis Floyd of Edgecomb Co. NC. there is a Matthew Lowry Jr. that wittnessed his will.
My 5th great-grandfather was Francis Floyd born in Isle of Wight Co. Va. b 1731? and died in 1816 in Old Rowan Co. NC. I have often wondered if there was a connection between the earlier family of your Francis Floyd and mine. Hope to hear from you. Tom Alexander
