Gary, would you know if there was any connection between John Nelson Tinsley and Gideon Floyd? Do you know if Gideon O. Floyd had a sister named Levinia? I was just wondering if there was any connection between the Tinsleys and the Floyds.
Yes, I have John N. Tinsley's obit. He died 17 May 1879. He was my gggrandfather. Gideon O. Floyd is buried in the Watt/Flora/Sand Hill Cemetery isn't he? I am assuming that John Nelson Tinsley is buried in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. I don't think he has a tombstone though.
I did not have down that Gideon's 2nd wife was Margaret Sweeney. This is what I had down: Gideon O. Floyd married #2 Margaret S. Johnson b. Dec. 1830. Married 22 Oct 1873 Warren Co., Ky. I have always thought that one of John N. Tinsley's wives was Levinia Floyd. But, I might be wrong.
I did not know that Gideon was also a preacher and elder at the Mt. Pleasant Church.
If, your family are members (members as of this date or are you talking about members of years ago?) of the Mt. Pleasant Church, would it be possible to see if they could find any Tinsley tombstones and take a picture and maybe you could e-mail them to me? John N. Tinsley's son, Thomas C. Tinsley died 20 Jul 1928 (buried in the cemetery). Also, John N. Tinsley had a daughter, Mary Ellen who married Allen Daniel Bratcher. So her tombstone would read Mary Ellen Bratcher. (Would love to have her tombstone picture). She died 21 Jan 1935.
