I first posted this request about six years ago. I thought this might be a good time to try it again.
I'm looking for information on Francis Floyd who came from Isle of Wight VA and settled in What is now Davidson Co. NC in the 1780's He is shown with his son John Floyd in the 1790 census. John had twins sons (Francis & Basil) and in the earily 1800's John and Son Francis traveled to Indiana where Francis settled. Basil remained in NC and was my gfathers-gfathers-father. We still have Floyds living on and around that original land grant in Davidson Co NC, and the first Francis Floyd is buried there.
My problem is finding the original Francis Floyd lineage in the tidewater VA area. His fathers name is unknown.As many of you know there are several Francis Floyd's in VA records in the 1600s and 1700s. Also John is a very common Floyd name.I believe that my Francis is a decendant of Nathanal Floyd as shown in the extensive research done by Wm Floyd of Indiana a few years ago, but there are still many loose ends and speculations that I would like to resolve.
Can anyone help me fill in the "gaps" with verifiable data ? Thanks
