Floyd Street, Revere, MA was named after my ancestors, the Floyd Family which at one time owned approximately 1/5th of the land area of what is now Revere, MA including Point of Pines. The Floyd family land ownership in Rumney Marsh (now Revere) began in about 1700 with John Floyd (b 1636) and continued through about 1900 when the last of the family homestead was sold by Abigail Floyd (Flint) and her sister Harriet Floyd (Putnam). About 20 Floyd family deeds have been passed down through the family and are now in my posession with the earliest original deed dated 1724. I have compiled a report on the Floyd Family land ownership in Revere with transcriptions of deeds in my posession and descriptions of real estate transactions form Benjamin Shurtleff's "History of the Town of Revere" published in 1938. Both my 1998 report and "History of the Town of Revere" are available at the New England Historical and Genealogical Society library in Boston. Shurtleff's book also contains extensive genealogical information on the families that settled and lived in what is now Revere from the 1600's through the late 1800's. If there is more information that you would like regarding the Floyd family in Rumney Mash, later Chelsea, later North Chelsea and finally Revere, MA, I can be contacted at TLBAIA2@cs.com.
